i have been trying to check and see if there are any updates for microsoft. and everytime it says there is an error and needs to shut down. i am using windows xp. it happens on yahoo and msn. thanks for your help

yes i'm using genuine windows xp. i'll keep trying to get r done. lately i've added alot of programs to help my computer to run better and faster and i think they are crap. maybe i don't know. thanks

Maybe its - Free Software - you downloaded ?
I have had similar problems , frequently.
I turned off (some of the features) on - Free Firewall software - i had installed, problem solved.
( although Firewall, isn't on - high setting etc )

Are you using genuine windows xp? Even if you are I cant see why msn and yahoo have a problem.
