We are being deluged with too much conflicting and trivial information would sum it up for me.

Yes and also 'the age of disaster'.what with global warming and stuff like that happening.there are more social ills compared to last time and we're being force feed with information too easily until we become lazy and complacent.

I think it's the era of repeated information, over and over again, ad nauseum.
The media gets stuck on a story and won't let go of it and it goes on for days or weeks until they eventually run out of things to say. Meanwhile, they're not reporting other news.

It could be seen that way. Sometimes I feel like the more I learn the dumber get. Too much of anything is bad.
