Although it is one of the nearest 100 stars to earth, Gliese 581 is still 120 Trillion miles away (as compared to Proxima Centauri which is 26 Trillion miles) and we lack the propulsion as yet to reach either in a human lifetime.

First of all, all we know is that it has a temperature like earth and 5 times the mass. It may be covered with sulfuric acid for all we know but if you're really curious, at the speed of the space shuttle, it will only take you 800,000 years to get there.

its too far away, we would never make it. if we could travel at half the speed of light it would still take us forty years just to get there. i dont think we could carry 40 years worth of food even if we could go that fast.
