Is my foot broken? On the top of my foot, about an inch from where my ankle meets my foot is a swollen lump. It hurts if a touch it in any way. I can walk on it (unless it is up the stairs), but I cannot put on tennis shoes. There is no discoloration except for slight bruising around my toes. It has been swollen for about 4 days, but I don't want to get an xray unless i absoutely need to.

if your foot was broken there would be discoloration and you could not walk . You probably have damaged a tendon, ligament or muscle. Apply ice packs for ten minutes several times a day. You really have to see a medical doctor. Damages to the soft tissue is far more serious and takes more time to recover than a broken bone. make an appointment to see your doctor immediately.

It could be a broken ligament... Its not necessarily a bone... but it is serious because its been swollen. Allpy ice on it as often as possible then elevate it when you sleep. Have it checked though... It could be serious.
