I'm seeing more and more questions in the English forum being posed by persons from other countries than those in North America, are your opinions of the American people changed because of what you read here? If so, is it for the better or the worse?

My opinion of Americans is that they tend to say what they want, when they want to. Some call this loudmouth and inpolite.

Also I have found that many Americans think that other countries in the world work in the same way as things do in America. This was in cases of foreign policies, government, race relations... that type of thing. And because of this things can get mixed up in conversations. I'd say that Europeans and Americans have some different values and the culture clash can make is so we don't mix so well all the time.

That's all. I still like Americans and America though.

Brilliant question, I'm a Scot and fairly proud of that, much as each reader should be of wherever they live. I think this is one of the better uses that the web can be put to. Yahoo! Answers creates an place where we can resolve questions using the widest diversity of viewpoints. It allows people of all nationalities to contribute and shows that irrespective of your geographical location, we can all offer something and learn from what has been said. Undoubtably there have and will be a few 'crank-calls', but on the whole, this page confirms the chinese saying that "many hands make light work".

It isn't really a matter of being Scottish or American, this page disolves national boundaries, and even where the english usage is a little unconventional, the meat or jist of what has been written is usually there. We can all spot points of similarity that we share. The great thing is, if we can bring something new to the party, we have the possibility of changing someones point of view. That is truely marvelous.

I'm afraid it mostly sways on the side of the worst...
I've made a few nice American pals, but tend to be repulsed by most and what they post in here. Though I've been told not to take it seriously as there are bored people or pranksters here. But its really hard to accept that someone could pull pranks on such serious and often, hurtful topics or situations. that one would seriously lack in compassion like that.... I really wish I didnt have to think that way about Americans, but I feel like you are a bubble that couldnt be bothered with whats going on around it, except make amazingly ludacris and hurtful (often uneducated) guesses... eg Black Africans run around cutting off white peoples heads in South Africa... (what a racist jawdropping remark)....

PS: I dont believe that all Americans are like that though, there are trully wonderful humane humans there... (",)

This is a question I like.
I am from Belgium, and to be honest I didn't realize American people were so nice and friendly!
When I read the answers on the questions, it made me realize you people are very nice and not so distant as I thought...
