X – y = 12
2x + y = 3
3x = 15
x = 5
If x = 5, 5 -y=12
-7 = y
___________

Y = 3x
Y = 3x + 1

0 is NOT equal to 1

Whoever says there's an answer is either a genius or an idiot!

for question 1.....

simply add the equations....

x+2x + y -y = 12+3....
3x=15.....
>>>>>>>>>>>> x=5 <<<<<<<<<<<<

nw substitute value of x in any of the two equations....

5 -y =12
-y= 12 -5
-y=7
>>>>>>>>>> y= -7 <<<<<<<<<<<

For Question 2.....

There is no solution since the two line have same slope i.e. they are parallel.........
hence they will never intersect hence no value of x and y will satisfy both the equations

Hey look,
1) x -y =12
2x+y=3

ys will becrossed out
3x=15
x=3
3-y=12
y= -9

2)this means that
y-3x=0 ( times 3)
y-3x=1 (times -3)
3y-9x=0
-3y+9x=-3
xs will be crossed out
ys will be crossed out
therefore x=0 ,y=0

1. X – y = 12 ------- (1)
2x + y = 3 -------- (2)

(1) + (2)
(x-y) + (2x + y) = 12 +3
x - y + 2x + y = 15 cancel y
3x = 15
x = 5
y = x - 12
= 5 - 12
= -7

2. y = 3x
y = 3x + 1
I think it's not possible to solve this question.

In number 2, you have parallel lines. Note the slope which is the coefficient of x . That's 3 in both equations. Parallel lines don't intersect. So there's no solution. You might say the solution is the empty set.

1)
Do you know what "additon method" means, if not look it up:
In this case it is:
x - y = 12
2x+y = 3
----------------- +
3x + 0y = 15, so x=5 and y=-7

2) if you try the same here you get:
y = 3x + 1
y = 3x
------------- -
0y = 0x + 1 so 0=1 ???????????????
Clearly this set of equations has no solution!!

1)add the both equations .y cancels out and you get
3x=15
x=5
and y= -7

2)this equation has no solution
