Why do you call it Palestine? Its Israel and has been Israel forever. Palestine is the name of the Philistines. By the Arabs who do you mean? The Arab world? They do not care, they just do not want the Palestinian Arabs in their countries.
The Arabs who lived in the territory you call Palestine claim they lived there since the Jews were exiled and therefore their claim is legal, which of course the Jews refute because its the land God gave them. This is in a nutshell you can read books and articles in the thousands written on these subjects.

The Muslim religion states that any land that had been ruled by them and then lost, must be re-captured. This means that Spain is on the to do list.

Also, the land of Israel was promised to Moses, not Abraham. The Jewish kindom, bear in mind, was not so much given, as conquered (Kill every man, woman and child). The Hebrews were, as far as the Arab, or at least Egyptians were conserned, freed slaves and therefore any land given to them could be considered done so only under Egypts tollerance.

Basically, don't try to use the bible as a justification within the middle east. There will always be opposing points of views and I do not think that there is an easy answer to the plight of the Palestinians or ensuring that Israel doesn't leave itself open to attack.

What? I am tired of this. There is a religion category for your questions isn't it? You want the history of Palestine? Under Ottoman rule since 1516 until the fall of the empire shortly after WWI. Ottoman rule was relatively tolerant of religious diversity and while the land was always populated by Palestinians, waves of Jewish settlers were usually welcome.
In the late XIX c . Zionism and the kibbutz enter the picture. Zionism is the theology which seeks a homeland for the Jews in their biblical promised land, the kibbutz is the socio-economical unit of organization of the zionists. These organizations were exclusively jewish and tended to seek an exclusively jewish Palestine. Naturally, this ideology caused friction with the native population, causing successive waves of anti-jewish riots.
After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Palestine comes under control of the British through a League of Nations Mandate. The British issue the Balfour Declaration promising to make both a Palestinian and a Jewish homeland. During WWII Jewish terrorist organization Irgun seeks to expel the British at any cost, even making deals with Nazi Garmany. Irgun's terrorist campaign included the bombing of the King Solomon hotel and attacks on British troops. Tensions with the Arab majority mounted.
The British agree to leave and in 1948 the UN declares Israel to be the homeland of the Jewish people over most of the land of Palestine. The Israeli forces eject a majority of the Palestinian population in what has been known as a major ethnic cleansing operation.
The neighboring Arab nations see Israel as a threat. Note that Israel is populated by foreigners, that it has close ties to Europe which in fact has held the MIddle East hostage since the fall of the Ottomans. There is little reason to believe that the actions of the Arabs were motivated by anti-semitism rather than geo strategic logic. Who wants a client state of your colonial master as a neighbor?
I will not go into the details of the great Israli expansion after the Arab War, the Suez crisis in 56, or even the 1967 war. Israel expanded at the stake of its neighbors and rejected repeated calls to peace, in particular those of Arab nationalist Nasser.
After 1967, the Palestinian refugee issue becomes a pan-arab concern. The Israelis control the Palestinian lands of Gaza and the West Bank and the Lebanese and Syrian lands to the north.
The Palestinians eventually fought back, through the PLO and the first and (most recently) the second Intifada. They have been portrayed as terrorists by the Western media but I know of no independence movement that has not resorted to terrorism in the face of strong masters. Israelis themselves used terrorism against the British and use it today against the Palestinians.
There is no reason to portray this conflict as anything other than an occupation. It is not religious in nature as ancient Muslim tolerance proves. The fact is that if antisemitism is on the rise it is wholly the responsibility of the Israeli state for attempting to represent all jews while committing heinous crimes against humanity.
Hope i was of help. The next book on my list is Chomsky's Fateful triangle. I figure it will be a good introduction to the peculiarities of the conflict. As for the Palestinian narrative, ask yourself, by accepting the occupiers narrative, aren't you an accomplice in their crimes?
