'Kay... in the past year I've lost 47 kg which is something just over 100 lbs. Was I happy with me? Yeah. I was in love and loved, had a rewarding job, and great people in my life. The only thing that ever made me feel bad was other people's reactions to my size. Some seemed to think that I was less intelligent than other folks... others just see a fat person as really disgusting (which is really kind of funny... 'cause the the outer really has little to do with the inner).
Now, one year later, I could be described as athletically curvy. I am proud of my new physique, but to be honest, I get really pissed off at people's reactions to it. Am I worth more now that I am slim? Funny... in the past year I ended a 4 year relationship. Now I get hit on by all manner of idiot. I think I liked the status quo better before. At least then the odds of a man loving the *me* inside seemed greater.
It's not a lie... happy is happy. One final thought: On the net, I still use my *fat* pictures. You figure out more quickly what sort of person you are dealing with (that, and I currently have a really goofy hair cut :) Hope this helped, somehow, someway.

It's a hell of a lot of effort to lose weight.
I am sure most people would like a job that pays £250,000 per year. I know I would. But to get such a job I would need to work full time and do a full time degree, masters degree and then PHD, and then concentrate all my time and effort for 10 years to advancing my career.
It's the same principle with losing weight. Last time I lost weight (I lost 5 stone - 70 lbs in 8 months) I spent 3 hours a day after work exercising (1 hour in the pool and a 2 hour walk) and an hour every day cooking healthy vegetable based foods instead of eating processed foods.
Because I would spend a full day at work and then after that I would spend 4 hours losing weight that meant that my girlfriend left me because I just had no time to spend with her. I think she was right to do this, there is no way I would go out with someone I never got to spend time with.
I was certainly happier with a girlfriend and a social life than when I was spending all my free time getting fit.

It's nonsense that they are happy. I have a friend who said she was happy with being overweight for years and then finally broke down and admitted she wasnt. I dont think people who are really are prepared to start losing weight seriously until they get out the denial phase.

I don't think so. I think people learn to accept it, and it becomes normal so they get used to it. I wouldn't say every many would be 100% happy and confident with their appearance. And if they could take a 'skinny pill' I'm sure they would, because it would be healthier for them in the long run.

I don't think they are all that happy. My brother's really over weight and talks about losing weight quite often, but never does anything about it. Then there's days he says he is happy with how big he is and doesn't care what people think. Some days when he's more honest he does care and will even say so. I think when you're over weight long enough you just get use to it but that doesn't mean you're happy.
