I have always played DVDs on my comp in real player...and I just tried to play one and it says it needs DVD softwear. So I think I might have deleted something since I was trying to clean up my computer yesterday. What did I delete and how do I get it to work????

Can I Download a software from the internet that will work with REAL PLAYER?

I have windows xp......

First make sure the DVD is not a "coaster". If it's a burned copy, the disc itself could be bad. If you have a stand-alone DVD player, you can check if it works on that. Also, try playing the DVD through a different media player, i.e. Windows Media Player.

If you've recently deleted stuff and don't remember what was deleted, there's a good chance you deleted some drivers and/or codecs. You can always uninstall Real Player completely and download the latest version again. Good luck!

Some DVDs come with a (rather terrible) DVD player known as InterActual built into them. Simply cancel the install, and open RealPlayer to play your DVDs as normal.

If RealPlayer won't play your DVDs, I suggest you try VLC. It's completely free and has a great reputation among us geek types. Get it from here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
