I always liked the term Sitzkrieg instead.

The war started with the invasion of Poland Sept. 1939. By October the fighting was over. Nothing else happened until April 1940 with the invasion of Norway and Denmark, followed by the invasion of France and Belgium in May, 1940.

JuanB is on the money - - - Sitkrieg speaks volumes; it officially ended when Germany steam rolled over Denmark and invaded Norway on April 9 1940...
