I think AMD Athlon XP can handle the max temperature until 70 degree, but of course the lower temperature the better your cpu live longer. So add more fan or maybe change your heatsink to better one, until the maximum temperature reach below 60. Don't worry about the temperature, cause cpu socket 462 can handle temperature below 70. If your temperature cannot get lower than 70, i suggest you change your amd cpu with the new one.

Socket A processors can mostly withstand up to 90°C max case temp. except for the XP Thortons and Bartons, and Duron Applebreds w/c have 85°C max. Most motherboards have threshold settings in BIOS that are much lower than these upper limits. With a good HSF and good case ventilation, processor temperature should just be at around 20°C above ambient.

Maximum allowable temperature is about 70 degrees Celcius. That will be when the motherboard will start to overheat. Damage to the component leads will follow if it is too much higher than that.

that is not solid to run it at one among those severe temp. counting on who makes your CPU, ie AMD or Intel, bypass to their internet site and seem up the cautioned temps to your CPU. i will merely approximately assure you that 116 is plenty too severe. maximum CPUs run 40 5-seventy 5 C...never at 116. that is going to ultimately burn out.

No more than 200C unless the CPU is immersed in water.
