How does this make you feel about participating here?
isn't that the same technology answers uses to figure out what subject our question falls under?

If the our law is ammended to control the way internet companies interact with foreign governments doesn't this mean an end to "a free internet" (meaning freedom not $$)

I understand the problem is bigger than just a free internet. but I feel that a solution will come eventually to the people under the Chinese gov.
but a free internet will be permanent.

yahoo will boot you here for the same things they will boot you for in China. I used to use this site in China. The only things they filter are fal lun gong a religious cult. said to be terrorists. and tienemen square, i heard that was filtered too. It's not the censorship or oppression you think it is. I actually taught about christianity in a public high school in china. couldn't do that here. i'm not even christian, they asked me to. I got US news and even a broader range of views than here. I heard from central asia, europe and australia.

If you start typing stuff about Al Qaeda and other buzz words that will be flagged and secret service may manually look through them but it's generally too much stuff. If they do find a criminal and want google to provide isp addresses, google will give that to the US govt or any govt. You can criticize the chinese govt but you cannot call for a revolution or violent uprising that will get you arrested anywhere.
