Good morning is a good way especially if you are in passing. That way you are not saying anything that demands an answer and their time. Simply a nod or good morning would be a good response.
Here in the South we say "Mornin"

Mornin'
Top of the Morning
How are you this morning?
Wakey Wakey!
Rise and Shine!
Hello Early Bird
Want some coffee?
Good Day
Sleep Well?
These are some of the things my father likes to say to us in the morning (when I'm visiting), wasn't so "funny" when I lived there though.
