Drill a plastic plate very carefully from the back as if you drill from the front as the drill goes through the sticky backing will come away and leave you with an air bubble around the hole.

Drill a small pilot hole first (about 1/8th inch) then drill bigger hole depending on the size of the screw you are using.

Use a centre punch to locate the holes and then drill carefully from the number side as being thin metal often a ragged bur is produced on the other side.~~

The holes are already drilled on the license plate. You should not alter the plate any further, it will be invalid, and you could be ticketed.

I would not recommend drilling any holes! Rather stick it on with double sided tape.
