Yes... because blessings are supposed to be countless. Once you begin to count, after a while the mind starts showing negative aspects and that is the penalty for conscious attempt to count.

The fact that you count your blessings does not cause you to be penalised. It is what you do after you have counted them that matters. The fact that you have looked at all the good things that have happened in your life has no consequence but if you change things because of it, then it matters.
If you think that you don't have enough blessings and want more or you just stop helping people because you have enough blessings etc would be devistating but the mere fact of counting, no problem

It depends. You should count your blessings for the purpose of being grateful and also reciprocate to spread your joy even more. If the exercise is for self-glory then it goes to the head and there may be a fall
