I mean the guy should be entitled to his opinion, but I never heard him pinpoint exactly what it was about Oakland and the surrouding area he said he didnt' like. I thought San Francisco was a pretty cool place the one time I was there when I was younger. It was one of those family trips/vacations, and I didn't really get to do the things I wanted to, but it still left a positive impression on me.

Barkley is known for his political views. He's a Republican and the Bay Area is very much known for its liberalism. Maybe that's the reason why. Or maybe he thinks the whole Bay Area is only for homosexuals. There could be a lot of reasons why he said it. In my opinion, he's missing out on a lot of great places to visit in the Bay Area, but what the heck does he know, he's from Alabama.
