I should have added earlier that they have this feature on Amazon.com called Amazon shorts. I think any author can add a story to sell. The stories cost $0.49 each, and I think that applies to whether the author is well-know or not.

No, unless I could read more than a few pages. 49 cents is about what buying a magazine works out to per story and I wouldn't buy a magazine with only unknown authors of unknown quality.

On the other hand 50 cents is half a paper, so if it was as easily available as a paper, I might pay for it.

Electronically? no, to much hassle to bother with 50 cents bynet.

Interesting proposal. My personal taste is to read first the books that have stood the test of time. So my first reaction was no.
My next reaction was that as a business model you have priced it right. How dull.
Then, what blurb would work? A blurb that promises that you will learn something by reading the story. I don't think the usual grabbers would work. I may be wrong.

Yes. I love reading enough that I've blown through the popular and "known" authors long ago. I'm always on the lookout for new. If I didn't take a chance on new then I'd be re-reading the old all the time, and while I love a lot of the old, not everything is worthy of a re-read. So yes, I would.

Because I work on a computer and do a lot on the computer during my personal time I try to stay away from e-books. But, I suppose if the story sounded interesting enough, was short enough and totally unavailable in print I might be tempted. I'll have to check out your link and take a look!

By your very question, the answer has to be yes.

"If the story blurb was interesting enough"

So, if it was interesting enough, I'd have no choice. But it'd have to be pretty interesting, not because it's an unknown author but because I don't typically want to read anything longer than an article online.

If the blurb was interesting enough I would consider it. As for driving my bank account crazy with $0.49 items, I would probably get a credit card gift card and just use it for these tiny purchases.

Interesting idea. I would probably if I could print it out. I find it hard to sit and read off a screen for any length of time. That's why I dont like e books. But if a story sounded interesting, sure. I will look into that. Pax - C

I think I'd only pay it if it were an author whose work I loved and I'd been anticipating something new from them for quite some time.

But you've probably seen the dozens upon dozens of people here on Yahoo asking for free downloads of books. People are pretty cheap and want something for nothing.

No. Why charge money when you can read the blurb for free?
