that's so annoying! Some people would ask to borrow a pen or pencil and never give it back and the next day there using the same pencil that they had borrow from me...this happen to me way too many times. Yet, I keep on lending people pens or pencils. I guess I'm just to darn nice to say "no" or something.

Good Question since they are cheap. I wonder if they do it without thinking. I am sure though that you are a nice girl if you do keep lending people your pens and pencils especially since you know they have a bad habit of not returning them to you. It is as if they just think they are being given to them as gifts not as loans. Maybe you need to wrap a small piece of paper around them that has your name written on the paper, then put scotch tape on top of the paper, so that when they see the pens or pencils, they can't help but remember that they belong to you. That is just a suggestion. Good Luck! :o)

I am looking at a pen that is on my desk right now. it is an advertisement from a plumbing company! They were really smart! The pen says "Stolen from"--then the name & phone# of the company. They are savvy that most people pick up a pen and keep it! Maybe you should do the same--have the pens made up with 'your name' on them and when you see the pen being used around the office--let the person know that is your pen! They won't be able to deny it. After all it does have your name on it!

Maybe they just forgot to give them back. The best way to get a pencil back is go up to them when class is ALMOST over and ask for your pencil back =)

get a deposit from them. like... their keys or a shoe. give it back at the end of class. or work. or whatever.

people don't give borrowed pens and pencils back because they're ignorant jerks and they can't remember jack.

nicely right this is one, seek the floor for pens and pencil. %. one start to hand it to them, then as quickly as you're approximately to furnish it, throw it interior the trash and tell them they'd desire to get it.

If it's during a class, do what I always used to do and make them give it back to you at the end of the class.

That is one my my pet peeves. My boss always wanted to borrow my pen for one second then he would just put it in his shirt pocket and walk away! I can't stand that!!!
