ok i really want to know does the shot(depo provera) make you fat or gain weight. cuz i have always heard that it does. so does it?

Most women I know have gained a lot of weight on depo provera. I was on it for four years and gained weight on it.
I am on Kariva (pill) now and my weight is slowly coming off, thank goodness.

No idea but any unnatural birth control is not good at all for women's health. One way the other it will give you side effect one day. Why don't you see a professional from the health care for instruction on how to use the NATURAL birth control? Many people say that it is not accurate but I think it needs a lot of self sacrifice and discipline in order to achieve an effective natural birth control. Your health is precious!

Any hormonal birth control method can cause you to gain weight. Birth control works by making your body think it's pregnant, therefore suppressing ovulation. But if your body thnks it's pregnant, it may pack on a few pounds of maternal fat stores. Or it may not. It may even speed up your metabolism. It all just depends on how your body reacts to the hormones.

Each person reacts differently to every type of birth control. I was on the shot for 6 months (started 6 weeks after I gave birth) and disgustingly enough, I bled every day... So I got off of it.

My mom gained 35 pounds on it so i think it does ...to a certain extent! if u exercise i wouldnt worry about it..the only birth control that i have EVER like was the Nuva Ring b/c it actually worked! and i didnt have any side effects from it..but choose whats best for u!

Every person reacts differently.When I took the shot (about 9 yrs.)it really made me moody.I remember crying alot.It was terrible,but you may act different.
