Your feet should be wide enough for you to have a good stand when leaving the ground for a jumpshot. Usually shoulder wide, but it's all up to you; different players have different style of shooting the ball, as long as the shots go in. =]
BTW, when you are shooting a jumpshot, make sure that your feet are always at the most suitable position as you want them to be. In another words, being consistent with your jumpshot is the most important thing to remember once you get the basics down.

shoulder width is a good distance. however, u can make it a little thinner or wider. its watevr feels comfortable for u
