Truthseeker-- who do you think we are fighting in Iraq? And recently the Sunnis have turned against them and sided with us, haven't you heard? (al qeada in case you need me to spell it out.)

2007-05-14 18:27:10 · update #1

Iraq has become the front in the war because AL QEADA wanted it, not us. Why would you want to move it somewhere else? It's still the same war as Afghanistan.

First of all, let me say that I think that some of these Liberals are hitting you way too hard for this question. It is the mystery that all of us Conservatives wish they would solve for us.

All we hear is them bashing our President for the war in Iraq. All we hear is them saying our President "created these terrorists" by his removal of Saddam. All I hear is them saying they opposed the war in the first place, because no wmd's were ever found. Or else the radical CT theories and the total denial that terrorists exist.

I have seen no plan from Liberals, other than bringing home our troops and securing our own borders. It is for this reason your question is valid. They have presented NO PLAN for fighting terrorism.

The fact is, regardless of whether the war in Iraq was a great idea at the time, regardless of what people think our role in the world should have been, regarding Saddam, we are there. And the terrorists are fighting us there.

And I cannot think of a better place in the Middle East to be fighting the terrorists, because for the most part, they must be imported to Iraq, as Iraq was largely secular under Saddam.

Iraq was open to the idea of democracy. I haven't seen any indication that Afghanistan is. Even Conservative Bill Frist said Afghanistan was a bad idea. So we are there, but on a smaller scale.

The war on terror is difficult, because, as some have mentioned, we don't always have a clear handle on the enemy. Their lack of respect for human life keeps them hiding behind women and children, people our military are loathe to harm.

I say, lets pull out the stops, give the President the money and men he needs to give this war the best effort we can. I believe American might is strong, and I believe the only thing that can really defeat our strength is for our own people to lose the will to win.

Perhaps one should determine in what context Iraq is a war. iraq is an occupied country. Occupied countries usually rally a resistence by their people against their occupiers. In this context how exactly does the world 'terrorist' fit in? Were the French resistence in WWII terrorists because they battled the Germans who occupied their country? Of course many s**t disturbers have pored into Iraq which was prime for civil and religious strife if anyone ever broke down the once thing that united the people of that country - fear of their repressive government. Iraq is bound to break into several nations with Iran emerging as a regional power and the real winner of this 'adventure'. To try to be so black and white and say they are terrorists who 'hate freedom' is plain stupid...they see this war as a struggle for their own freedom which is a great irony.

War on terror will never be over as long as groups feel they are ENTITLED to use that form of expression to get their message out.

Over this weekend an individual said that he felt peace would breakout in Iraq as soon as the US/coalition left. I started the discussion with the statement IF the democrats are correct: That Iraq is now nothing more than an internal civil war, then whom ever doesn't control the oil will torch it. This will hurt both the 1st world economy & the planets environment. His answer was not the locals would make peace. He couldn't even express a reason they would except the US wouldn't be there.

Why does the left feel that someone feels that a person is going to kill his neighbor, because someone else moved in. Under that logic a KKK will kill a WHITE person (if they aren't KKK) if a BLACK person move into the area.

its not just a war on terror. if anyone actually reads the 9/11 report it does not say war on terror it says war on radical fundamentalist islamists. It was spun to include all terror to make it look like it is not what it really is, a religious war. I blame the republicans for not making the case better because you know the news wont, that's not politically correct. however Islam has been saying for decades that Iraq or better known as Mesopotamia/land between two rivers, is going to be the head of the Islamic caliphate. and has been stated over and over and over by the terrorists. heres a example JUST RECENTLY stating just this.

history will show that it was a necessity and to use a phrase from Hanoi Jane a "premature evacuation" will cause us more problems in the future.

liberals have the proverbial cant see the Forrest for the trees. their bush hate and political power grab is so important coupled with their spineless wherewithal will not allow them to understand what is actually going on.

Because the war on terror doesn't match their well-intentioned goals of world peace through diplomacy and turning America into a socialist state to make everything equal. This is why they are oblivious to the very real threats we must face to survive. They get angry because the world won't behave the way as it should so they can parade in their fantasy-like goals. This anger acts as a shield for their fears that something is coming between them and making everything ok for all of us for our own good. Their reason and logic is obscured with these ideals. They KNOW what is best and the world better listen to them. Therefore they think the war on terror doesn't exist.

Liberals blame America for everything. They blame us for 911, and every other attack that has happened here on our soil, and in Iraq. They have this far out illusion that if we leave Iraq the terrorists won't be as mad at us. That wussing out will somehow show these animals that "we mean well" in a sense. When in reality, it just gives them ammo, and emboldens them. If we leave, the terrorists will boast, and they'll see us as cowards. Osama has already said, after we bailed in Somalia that, "Americans do not have the stomach to finish a war." He's right, but it's Liberal Americans that don't have the balls to fight, and die for freedom. What shape would America be in if these panty waists ran the whole show? Frightens me to think about it.

I can't figure that out, Tinker. I guess they, the Libs don't realize that America will be attacked again, if America does nothing. America did nothing during Clinton's administration (here we go again), the USS Cole in Yemen, our embassy in Africa, Somalia (what a waste), all terrorists attacks, and acts of war. Innocent Americans were murdered folks! Did you know that? 9/11, 3000 innocent people just trying to make a living were MURDERED! Do Libs know what murder is???????? It means you're DEAD, and somebody who didn't have a right, killed people, without cause. Do Libs know what innocent means?????? Means you didn't do ANYTHING wrong! When will you understand that??????????
If we leave Iraq, not only will even more people die, so will the respect of America. Leaving Iraq, will come back to haunt us, just like Vietnam. Libs, Iraq is not Vietnam. We have a cause this time more important than Vietnam. We want to save our future, and our lives, especially those of our children, and their futures.
America CANNOT live with terrorism! Get it? If we do, then the terrorists rule the world.
You want that for yourself, your children, and your country? Think about it!

Liberals are short-sighted and think all we have to do is get bin Laden and because we haven't, we've somehow failed. They do not understand that the war on terror is ongoing and that we can never let our guard down from here on out. They also fail to understand that the mission in Iraq is to HELP the Iraqi people be free and be able to defend themselves against terrorist insurgents who are poised to slaughter them and take over an oil rich nation. The world needs the free flow of oil from that region and the USA is there to assure it.

Brilliant question; thanks for posting. It looks like there are a few sane, intelligent answerer's here to back you up. (myself included)!

terror problems in iraq are reduced. war of terror is a silly name like war on the middle class or war on drugs, war on personal freedom, war on this war on that. You can't destroy a tactic, you can't destroy an idea. People may come along at any time and say i'm going to blow up innocent people they're born of all faiths and skin colors.

If you want a war on Al Qaeda that's something else but even that is futile because the main organization would not condone a blanket fatwa and huge loss of life for little reason. Radicals even within the ranks of this group sworn to protect people of that faith. These radicals are promoting the attacks. Even Taliban are very small seeing people. They run a small village or gang. World affairs are well beyond thier power.

What you're doing in Iraq is far from stoping terrorists. You have to investigate and get tips. You need to track missing fertilizer shipments. You may be attracting some malcontents to the region but if they don't die they're just gaining field experience. You're training them under the realest of conditions.

I don't think anyone believes that. The problem with any war, is that the winners write the history books. Terrorists are desperate people using fear and ignorance to gain recruits, and to force their countries to remain ignorant, so that they can remain in power a little longer.

The problem with the war in Iraq, is that as soon as the US invaded, the terrorists fled like the cowards they are, to another Islam country, who, in their fear, and ignorance grant the terrorists asylum, because, after all, they terrorists are protected by Islam. Now the only way to eliminate terrorism by war, would be to declare jihad against all of Islam, which is basically what Bush did when he declared that we would hunt them down, wherever they went, and that any country that harbored these cowards would become an enemy of the U.S.

Since the Saudis are still our allies, I guess the war on terrorism can not work. The U.S will never be able to keep their promise of making an enemy of any country that harbors these criminals as long as the other Arab nations refuse to honor their supposed friendship with our country. It is well known that The Saudis have ties to bin laughingstock, yet we continue to count them as allies. BAH !! I say. Either follow through with your promise to the Americans that died by terrorist acts, or resign in shame Mr Bush.
