Well, that depends on who is doing the rating. Some people would give life a high rating, and some would give it a low rating.
Personally, I DON'T think "life is what you make it." I think life is what you're lumped with, and what you make of it can either make it better or worse. I mean, none of us has unlimited power, but we can all choose to either make our own lives more miserable or less miserable.
You can't turn a pig's ear into a silk slipper, but you can make some really good dog treats with it! We do our best, lol.

No question the material world is overrated. But the law of material nature is we have to live out our existence. If we try to take our own life it will not end our suffering. We then would have to become a miserable disembodied soul (ghost) who suffers incessantly the misery they experienced at the time of death. They are extremely lonely because embodied souls can not see or hear them. They are tormented all the time by other miserable ghosts. It is a very hellish condition. The process is to realize who you are in reality. seek out your true self. And the quickest and easies way to do that is to chant the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion. for info go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada-tells the purpose and meaning of life and how to always be happy..

Well your sure are a downer!
Those bad times, just like the good are how we grow. Whatever is wrong you will get over it and you will realize that living is everything. Life is short, enjoy it while you can. brush the bad off because in the end it doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters is that you take away a positive understanding of each experience life throws at you.

Are you suicidal? Just kidding (unless you are, then I'm not).
The perspective people have on life and living depends on their system of beliefs. If you are someone who does not believe in the afterlife, then to you life and living is very important, because you believe you only get to once. If you are someone who is for example, Christian, then you might forgo some things in this life, because you believe that you will be rewarded in the next.
No, I do not think life and living is overrated. Even though I am not the happiest person on earth, I think it's great that I happen to be alive. Just think, it took millions of your ancestors to get together, be attracted to each other, have sex, and eventually result in the generation of a gene combination that made you. There are many things that could have gone wrong since our conception, and here we are. The fact that we are alive and survive is a miracle in itself.

Life and living are both overwhelmingly underrated if you love life, and incredibly overrated is you hate life. But over or under rated they are both better than the alternative.

Life is what you make it. I don't care what people say, you can make it as fun or as dull as you want it to be, all it takes is a different outlook and a positive attitude.
