well, as an athiest and wife to higlhy educated atheist who helps save your butts...in missle deffense.
this makes me sad..
only atheism will cure religioius terrorism.
I do apologized for spelling mistakes..it is late..
as for happy atheist..I'm one of them and only b/c I lost religion and brainwashing. I lost mother, child and have wonderful children now and live ea and every day to fullest.. I know of no heaven nor hell. I was born atheist, and my kids even wear a shirt that says that.
american christians fear atheists and anyone else not like themselves. they feel they are right..but even among american christians..they argue..catholics think they are right, baptists think they are right. guess what, you are ALL wrong.
If only some day we could have leaders that didn't use religion for anything....in not only the US, but Iraq and China, everywhere.
I'm a libertarian...
I think that yes, in this day/age in america, an atheist wouldn't be elected..but I don't think it'd be worse.

yes, 3k or what ever the numbers may be is minimal compared to ww2 or for that matter what murders happen in the us alone, it is ridiculous.
I don't know the website right now, but is said that living in the nations capitol, DC and certain other cities has more death of americans that during this war.
Still..people are dying..not only US troops, but other innocent women and children that OUR troops are KILLING and torturing.

Institutionalized atheism in communist goverments during the 20th century accounted for over 100 million deaths in Eastern Europe, South America and Asia.
It could get ALOT worse.
Also, I've never met a truly happy atheist. As a matter of fact, the only time I ever see atheists happy is when they are making fun of religious people.
Since about 90% of the worlds population believes in God in one form or another, it appears that an atheist would have a difficult time earning the respect of the rest of the world.
Notice...I used the word "respect"...not popularity.

I seriously doubt that an atheist would ever be elected president even by self-proclaimed atheists. I agree the conflict in Iraq was a mistake but now that its all messed up, how can we leave until Iraq can take care of themselves a bit better? I would bet that we will be out within a year and a half to two years if the democrats have their way.

I'd rather have an honest athiest than the lying, murdering, self-important so-called Christian we have now.
Bush is guilty of four of the Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath (hates Iraq), Greed (lining pockets of political allies), Pride (thinks he can do no wrong), and Envy (wants Saddam's oil). I'd say he's destined for the Seventh Circle of Dante's Inferno.

LoL. I'd say it's BETTER to have an atheist in the White house! IN general that is. With these born agains, and other bible-thumping types, their every decision is going to be shaded by religious prejudice. That may or may not be a good thing, but the mentality also is one where they take it as holy to try and either convert, or force others to subjugate themselves to the ruler's god. Those who follow the god may be o.k. with it, but I for one AM NOT!

How do you know if there hasn't been one already. You don't think that any poltician in his right mind would actually admit to it.
BTW, Osama Bin Laddin is not an atheist and look at what he has done.

Bush is a delusional Christian. Someone who only THINKS they're a Child of God, but whose actions are very much against the Scriptures of love, peace, and tolerance. He's a major league hypocrite, as are his "religious" backers.

Not sure about worse, but when that little voice in the president's head says to attack some country, the atheist can't claim it's god, so it will be a clear indication, even to the neocons, that the president is crazy.

I'm a Christian myself, but I would definitely consider voting for an atheist who seems reasonable over another "Christian" who is just like Bush.
