People who like attention usually have an inflated ego which gives them the feeling of being important and proud. These people are hard to communicate with unless you are on their level. Personally i would rather fade into the background than be the center of attention. Humility is a virtue that is becoming
less and less among people which is a shame because humble people put others before themselves .

It's the some sort of attention that I like. Something of the unknown, and possibly wicked type that seems to catch my eye. Why do we want attention, some of us don't, attention can be a search light into the heart of darkness. Attention means to cooperate with the authorities, as in listen up. Some of us would rather give attention. like listening for our prey to come down the path. Needy and wounded. At some point, when attention is paid to you, you will become suspicious, no attention unless requested please.

Attention means different things to different people.
Some people appear to seek attention at all costs. They may confuse attention with affection. "I got my picture in the paper!" But I am not convinced that everyone wants publicity.
Sometimes there are cultural elements that increase the possibility of wanting publicity. American popular "youth" culture epitomized by "American Idol" transmits the message that fame = happiness. To me, this is a false idol.

Attention in a different light is directing one's awareness toward another. Listening, observing, considering and totally "being there" for another has been called the greatest gift one can give to another. When people can share this type of attention and continue to earn this type of attention with each other, they are less likely to go for the scatterbrained "false idols" that dot all +/-125 channels.
There are a lot of unhappy celebrities out there... it said so on E! My wife told me so, I don't watch E!, of course... ;) Wait a minute, maybe I should pay her more attention... but when I do, she tells me about E!... Arrrgh!

Because we are gregarious creatures that thrive on attention. To pay attention to a child at home may alleviate some of the bad attention getting antics. Some people may have bad behavior because they do not get enough attention at home.

When something bad occurs, and the term trying to get attention is used, I always disagree(Not out loud, but in my mind) I think they're trying to get "affection"-- and they'll do anything to have it -----even if it's negative instead of positive!
People that want or like attention( Myself included) we just do weird stuff or funny things or entertain etc. Acts like this usually require-- self confidence and self esteem!

Because attention, even negative attention is energy directed towards the recipient. If it doesn't feel nice (positive attention) then at least it feels as if one exists (negative attention).
