We've been good friends for several months now. Last week, we were at my house. I had gone out to the car for a second, leaving her in my computer room with my purse. When I came back she recieved a phone call because her grandma had a stroke and went to the hospital. She hugged me, then left. I immediately noticed my wallet missing and called her out on it.

She left me a text message saying how sorry she was, ect. She is not poor, and I am not rich...so there really is no way to justify her actions. She will be bringing my wallet back first thing in the morning. (I had threatened going to the police, I have proof, and she is scared...so I don't know if she is really sorry or just sorry she got caught) She sent a text saying "Don't worry about you're money, I'm giving you an extra $100 since you had to go without" I replied that I didn't want an extra 100, just the $280 that was mine...but she still insists. Should I accept the extra money?

I don't really plan on taking the money but I certainly don't plan on saying thank you either.

Also, we are no longer friends but I was very civil about it.

Wow! This is incredible.
Accept the the extra $100....not because you want it. Because it will make her FEEL BETTER. This is a karma thing. This allows her to save some face after doing a TERRIBLE thing.... Rejecting the $100 will make her feel bad. But if you don't care then do what you like... But when faced with two difficult choices, choose the one that creates the most positive karma... The $100 is a form of apology. Accept it.
BTW, the Hawaiian people believe when a person asks for your forgiveness, you MUST accept their apology (as long as it is sincere) and you are never allowed to mention the wrong again. This does not mean you trust them again but you can't ever mention the wrong they did forever.. Anyway...this is a crazy story. Sorry for the loss of someone you trusted...

start up with a sound spanking. Make her wash autos contained domestically to pay off the $50 and $50 extra as an excellent. floor her for a month and have her write an essay on the evils of stealing. She would desire to on no account forget this adventure.

I would not accept the extra money. I would just get what belongs to me back and not have this friend in my life any longer.

No, don't take the extra money. Because she could say that you were in it for the money OR she could end up going to the police and accuse you of stealing the money.

As the saying goes "Friends don't steal off Friends",you are right on catching her out and immediately acting on it,like every-one else I agree that you take back what was yours and advise her that she would not be welcome back to your home.$100 dollars cannot buy back a friendship as what it seems she is doing,I say there are other people out their that would be a better friend than she was not everyone is like this so called friend.

I don't think so it lets her off the hook to easy tell her to use
the money to get some help for her little problem before
it becomes a big one

I don't think you should take any extra from her. Also I really think you should reconsider this friendship, she can't have that much respect for you if she 's taking your things.
