Race isn't helping Condi Rice, didn't help Colin Powell. I think Obama has yet to reveal enough about himself for me to even know the answer to your question. I know where he stands on the war, and I admire it, but I don't know how he'll handle it once in office.

I believe he would be a much more respected leader to enter into diplomacy with around the world. As far as "easing tensions" in Iraq-I agree with the majority of Americans and Iraqis that the sooner the U.S. Occupation of Iraq ends the sooner the terrorism and deaths subside.

It doesn't matter who the President of the United States is...the Islamic extremists and terrorist groups are always going to hate us and make our lives miserable. How would one propose to get these people to a negotiation table.....drop handwritten invitations along the Pakistan/Afghanistan border????? Can't have diplomacy with these people they only understand violence.

Liberals yearn for a choreographed delusion international which disputes human nature. They swoon on the belief of status on the area of the hill whilst reciting poetry with speaking raccoons and eating decaffeinated Coke. That the recycling truck must be an hour late propels liberals right into a state of close to hysteria. that somebody ought to truly very own a gun sends them working to the therapist for Prozac, grief-counseling and Deepak Chopra seminars. They seek for order, risk-free practices and risk-free practices at any value, quite than individuality, liberty and freedom. o_O

It would be his extreme intelligence and genuine diplomacy that would work. His inter-racial heritage would only play a very small percentage in it.

I haven't seen any evidence of it yet, though he seems to be a good man. He is receiving well-placed criticism lately for being too general in his answers regarding what he plans to do about Iraq. Until I hear something concrete beyond "We need to bring our troops home" and "I never approved of this war from the beginning," I'm going to say no.

Senator Barack Obama could be a good diplomat because of his African connection and Muslim ties. Leaders in the MIddle East could accommodate him on the negotiation table which could make pacts to end the conflicts in this world.
VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know if Obama will likely win.

Please.. Diplomacy, without action, is like playing chess alone-- even when you win, you lose.
Diplomacy has no chance to work when you are dealing with religious fanatics or islamic terrorists, simply, because they know they are right because Allah said so.
I say, we achieve true racial and theological diversity in Iraq, by mixing their atoms together at the nuclear level. Then, they can be at one with their own maker, and the earth and everything else within the general vicinity.
Give nukes a chance!

Pay attention to his policies, not his racial background. If race mattered, then Al Sharpton could solve all African-American-related racism.

It depends on which part of the Middle-East identifies with Obama. If it's the Shia, then Sunnis will chop all our heads off. If it's the Sunnis, then the Shia will chop all our heads off.
So it all comes down to who you want to chop your head off.
