The correct term was the "Lists". They were held as training for combat. Either single combat (jousting)- knight vs knight with armour, horses ,lances and shields, the aim being to unseat your opponent. Weapons could be blunted for "safety" or sharp, meaning a fight to the death. Or in the Melee -groups of knights fighting each other in kinda general chaos. Knights would carry a lady's "favour" a scarf or something belonging to their lady love. Hope this helps

Like a jousting tournament? I know they used to do them at the Excaliber Hotel in Las Vegas a few years ago. You might want to check out the Excaliber Hotel website. Don't have it handy but you could Google it. Hope this helps.

In a Medieval journey a knight might desire to benefit and the buzz and glory or war, without certainly having to be in a war. In a war the knight might desire to benefit popularity and fortune, besides as loss of existence, ailment, soreness, etc. In a journey the knight gained popularity and fortune and greater. A knight might receive a reward from a woman if he gained. In some international places the journey became seen training for war, no longer purely the thank you to income glory.
