If it was a normal mother-son relationship. I distrust my mother. She has atrtempted to kill me multiple times among other things. My girlfriend has never attempted any such thing. Therefore, I absolutely treat them differently.

It is not set in stone, but there do seem to be many similarities. The premise to this is that a man learns how to interact with the opposite gender from his mother. If he learns that he can act however he wants without repercussions and never stop receiving love and affection from his mother, he will most likely take that mindset into relationships. On the other hand, if he was raised to respect and honor his mother, it is very likely that he will take those same mindsets into his relationships as well. :o)

You learn young how to treat people from the things you observe in your own home. If you have a very loving family you will tend to be more open. If you have a stiff family then it may be more difficult for you to thrive in relationships in the outside world. So yes, that is true

No that's not true. My brother treats our mother like crap but treats his wife and in-laws like gold.

I don't know about that, but I do know that if you treat them like a thoroughbred, they won't be a nag.
