My idea of a pothead is someone who smokes pot just about everyday.

If to get drunk, then yea.. one might be considered an alcoholic. I'll rephrase and use "someone who smokes pot on a daily basis"

One big difference I see between someone drinking alcohol vs someone smoking pot is that pot is an illegal drug. Also, people that buy pot (around here, for sure) are more likely to put themselves in danger obtaining the drug unless they have a good connection. Most people around here don't and end up in the ghetto buying and getting robbed from some guy on the corner.

And one glass of wine at dinner would not equal the mind altering effect that smoking a joint, bowl, whatever would.

4. That's a bit too strong I think, but they have some issues.
5. I think it's a bit of both, it's not exactly heroin, but it's definitely habit-forming. Hardcore potheads basically like to live their lives high. I also notice that they become irritable if denied pot for any extended period of time, like a cigarette smoker without a cigarette.
6. I think it may alleviate the symptoms at times, but it can also exasperate the symptoms. Some potheads are very antisocial.
7. I think they're people who love being high and can't imagine feeling so good when they're not high, I think that's a shame.

Being a substance abuse counselor I guess I can weigh in on this one. I see people every day whose lives have been destroyed by pot, so yes it CAN do that, CAN being the operative word. I think some potheads, to use your words, need rehab to quit. SOME being the operative word there. No, potheads are not morally corrupt. The Klu Klux Klan is morally corrupt not potheads. Pot is most certainly an addiction for some, with withdrawal symptoms. I think pot affects depressed people and manic depressives differently. I think anyone addicted to pot is no different than anyone else addicted to anything else. They are people first and should be respected and treated well. To treat anyone otherwise is to serve no good end and it doesn't help anything or anyone to treat them poorly.

1.Potheads are cool. They have not destroyed their lives.
2.They don't need rehab , i know a guy who smoked weed every night ( I myself getting contact high ) and he decided to quit one day for his job.
3. Pot should be legal , the most you want to do when your stoned is find something comfortable to sit down on and chill , then eat a ton of food.

6. When you are stoned , the last thing on your mind is if someone dosent like you (getting depressed) or any other worries.

1. Not really. They are not tissue dependent so they can quit if it gets out of control
2. No. They can rehabilitate themselves if they need to quit
3. Yes, at least to the same extent alcohol is. If you understand the details of what alcohol does and what pot does, our current legal policy on the two is absolutely rediculous.
4. Absolutely not. That's just how they choose to relax.
5. Habit because it's impossible to be physically dependent
6. Aleviates it because pot "evens out" brain impulses.
7. They haven't made the best choice of a self-medicator, but they definately aren't violent or dangerous (unless behind the wheel).

I think this is the longest question I ever read, but potheads are someone who smokes it at least 2-3 times a day and If anyone did it that much I would hope they have 20/20 vision since it is supposed to be good for your eyesight.

First, before we can realistically answer this, you need to specifically define what you think a pothead actually is.

A great many people who occasionally smoke marijuana are not considered 'potheads' any more than a great many people who occasionally drink are considered drunks or alcoholics.

I suggest you re-ask your question with a specific definition and without an obvious bias.
