um, well first instead of calling her a grown up child, lets call her a woman. How do you get a woman to take responsibility for her own happiness? That could take some serious therapy to say the least. I would suggest some books though that even if you read first might give her some interest so that then she would read them. The fist is by Louise L Hay, "You Can Heal Your Life". There are quite a few quizes in the begining that might open her eyes as to who is responsible for her happiness. The second book is by Guy Finlay, "Letting Go", this one will teach her how no matter who we are or how successful, we all have insecurities and how to let go of them.
Good luck hun, wish I could make my mom see the rest of the world is not responsible for her happiness!

its sounds more of an issue of an over attachment of your child to you.
to love a parent is a good hing.but to do so until independence is un acievable is a problem.
it sounds like a sort of training you will have to administer at a late age.
well, how about pulling off the goodies that your childcant let go off.and do it fast and immediately;they will actually feel embarassed and figure for themselves what you are trying to say.

Sunnyday,
set an example and show her your happiness and contentment, thats what I did with my 26 year old and he got the message after a few times. It may take some convincing but it will work....repeating your positive actions will show her that you know what you are talking about

Tell her she has a Father in Heaven Who loves to make her happy. Pray to HIM for answers to things---NOT material things---but things like peace, joy, happiness, contentment.
