How do you know if your'e attractive?

Question

Lets say you look in the mirror occasionaly you give yourself a general opinion on how you think you look based off how others mass percieve is mainstream attractive. For example if tom cruise has an attractive face then you may notice you emulate some of his facial features with your own face, not all but some and giving yourself an opinion that you are somewhat good looking.

This opinion is of course subjective to you, you could be really crazy and look like a homeless guy thats done a few rounds with mike tyson but think your'e hot sh1t. How can you tell for sure? What if you have a low opinion of yourself but others think you are attractive? What if you have a high opinion of yourself but others think you are amusing and not attractive?

Do you think their is 1 kind of attractiveness that everyone thinks is true (Brad pitt e.t.c) and the specialised attractiveness which a person displays exaggerated features which some may find appealing and others repulsing. (Tobey maguire).

What I've noticed, is if a person is beautiful on the inside, people might not notice their attractiveness straight off, but after just a little conversation, their beauty becomes apparent. These type of people have lots of sincere friends.

However, a person who is ugly on the inside, no matter how beautiful their looks may be, after just a few words from their lips, their ugliness becomes apparent to all. They may have lots of people flocking around them, but rarely do they have any sincere friends.

well, they say beauty is really just a perception

however, since i used to be a psychology student, i remember this old psychology study conducted, in which participants were asked to rate a set of portraits... they often rated this computer generated picture the highest, in which this picture was an approximation of the "average" of the facial dimensions of all the portraits combined

so, i i think its partly an "averaging" trait in our minds, as well as some factors from psychosexual instincts and culture

I am told that I am attractive, but when I look in the mirror I never see the same thing twice. Sometimes I think I look ok but other times I think I look terrible. So I don't really know.

But if I think I look terrible it affects my whole mood and I get depressed.

You just know. When you walk into a room and people stare or you get tons of attention from the opposite sex are two indicators.

its like you said opinions are different....i have been with alot of women and i have come to the conclusion that's its not what you look like its how you portray yourself......... think about it like this...u see an absolutely gorgeous person across the room....you decide to got and speak to them and as u are about to say hello. they spark a cigarette,fart, chew on a french-frie like a cow and then says hello with nasty smelling breath.....they aren't that good looking anymore are they?????
