i am looking for a 1000cc bike i have rode a gsxr600 for a few years now and want to step up into the 1000cc class the 600 was my fist bike and i love it but its the only one i have ever rode. i cant seem to get anyone who knows anything about motorcycles to give a strait answer other than "your a squid" but i guess thats just typical of people who are trailor trash and cant afford anthing better than a p.o.s. savage or a magna

I agree with Firecracker.I don't know how much a p.o.s. savage or magna costs either, I probably can't afford one because I have spent my money on four Harleys..Trailor is actually spelled 'trailer".I don't have one of those either. But if they make them with stucco I might buy one to put next to the pool house.

OK, fine. No squid comments. Your grammar and spelling do tell stories of your maturity and intelligence, though; something you might want to consider in the future. But ask yourself something: why do you want a literbike?

A 600cc will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and top out at around 150mph. A literbike will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and top out only 30mph faster. Both will go much faster than necessary on the street, but the 1000cc will take more effort to ride.

The truth is that you will NEVER use the full potential of a literbike on the street. Other than top speed and more torque, there is no compelling reason to have a literbike on public roads other than to brag about it.

True story: I ride my ZZR-600 to classes downtown, and during nice weather there are a lot of bikes parked next to me. One day I noticed a nice R1 that I had seen many times before parked next to me. All covered in bling, with his chrome windscreen and carbon pipes, with chicken strips the width of my hand (by contrast, mine are down to the last centimeter).

In other words, he had a literbike, but NEVER leaned it over and had no idea how to ride. His bike was all for show, and any true rider can spot a poser in an instant.

So you go ahead and get your big ol' Gixxer if you really must have it, but know that there are people who will KNOW whether you can actually ride it or not.

It goes like this no one will ever ride a 600 to a 1300 to it full potential on the street so here's the break down. 600 are fairly forgiving, 750 is best all around, 1000 full out must have excellent knowledge of motorcycle dynamics, 1100+ well if they had wings these would fly but not really good on handling unless your a big guy. I ride GSXR 750 and I've been riding 14 years and I will never ride my bike to it's full potential. Take your time. remember "THERE IS NO TRACK IN STREET" so don't ride like there is.

Depends on what you want out of the bike. If you love the GSXR, the new model is a bit easier to ride and performs well. The 1 litre market is so competitive now that there are really no bad choices (well, there are some, but a once-over should make you not even want to take it for a test ride). Ride a variety of bikes and figure out which personality suits you best. Italian bikes tend to be very turn-happy, but hard to ride and downright dangerous at speed. American and German bikes tend to like going straight and very fast. British bikes like long swooping curves and switchbacks. Japanese bikes tend to be very balanced, allowing the owner to tweak the bike to his/her riding style.

Sure you can modify an RSV R to ride like an R1 with enough aftermarket parts and tinkering, but you'd be best suited to find the right ride, then put just enough customization into it to make it perfect for you.

If you are a squid, however, I highly suggest a Hayabusa.

stupid questions will always get stupid answers. and just fyi, if u cant handle a magna, there's no way u'll survive on a liter bike; only difference is, a magna might give u a bit of time to think about a possible mistake before committing....a liter bike wont allow much of an error.
ur last question instantly labeled u a squid.....a moron that is hell bent on killing themselves. face it, live with the gsxr, or just hang up the helmet until u get a better job that has the cash to get a liter killer.

Sorry about your luck with others. If you're looking into a liter bike, my personal favorates are the Yamaha R1 and the Honda CBR 954. I think you might be able to get a better deal on the honda. Both are amazing

my 1st choice...ducati 1098s..okay..slightly larger than a 1000cc

i think you can't go wrong with a suzuki or a honda...why don't you try sitting on both bikes and see which one is more comfortable..

if you love your gsxr then just upgrade it to a gsxr 1000...do you plan to race or ride for leisure?

i ride a ducati so i won't bash a ducati...but...i hear of more people having problems with a suzuki than a honda..

your insurance rates might be less with a suzuki than a honda

again, if you can afford it..go ducati...thing handles very well around corners...handles better the more you break it in...very fast...low maintenance...high insurance rates....

if you are looking to go fast then one bike over another isn't going to really make a difference...unless you are racing...does it really matter if you go, for example, 158 vs. 163...not really.....seriously...sure it would matter on the track..but the street..it doesn't matter..at those speeds, on the street..you are asking for trouble..

when you are looking for a race bike..then you will get answers that pertain to performance..but for the street..just get one that looks better...

and don't spend thousands of dollars on upgrades when you aren't even going to put that thing on a dyno and tune it...those are just things to brag about...aren't gonna do much

Your one question about a 1000cc bike had to do with wheelies and other stupid stuff. Your only other motorcycle question was about going 150 mph, and had nothing to do with a 1000cc bike. What did you expect?

To those that do know something about motorcycles, you have introduced yourself as a moron. (aka squid)

Ask a reasonable question, get a reasonable answer.
Ask like that, you deserve whatever you get, and them some.

Time to go back to school, junior.

can you handle your 600? Are the tires worn to the edge with boogers on them? then and only then will you need a 1000
but a 1000 is still too much for the street. You may want to pick up a sportster with a squealin beagle kit I hear those are wicked fast

What's the question that you have about it? Out of the basic choices (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki) I'd go with either the R1 or the Gixxer 1000 (those are just my personal 2 favorites).
