Lots of functions:
--keeps the area warm in winter, cool in summer
--prevents chafing, as does armpit hair
--acts as a "dry lubricant" during sex so your bare skin doesn't rub against hers and rub one or the other raw
--is a sign of sexual maturity -- if you have hair, you are old enough to be a potential mate.
--Maybe most important is that it keeps the air circulating there, so bacteria and fungus don't thrive in the trapped sweat. Without hair you might get infections, and you'll almost certainly stink.
--It's nice for your partner to run her fingers through. Big turn on for both parties.

To hide the ugly penis! Seriously, I don't think anyone knows, except with evolutionary structure/function ideas, hair keeps us warm, and helps to separate the skin when sweating. For example in the underarms, hair gives a bit of space so that the sweat can evaporate a bit faster, to cool the body. Theoretically, the testicles need to be cooler, so this may be one reason for pubic hair. Socially, it does separate the men from the boys. Physically, it does give a bit of 'cushion for the pushin' which is probably helpful for us skinny guys. These are some ideas for you. If you don't like them, or want to experiment, just get your girlfriend to shave it all off, and see what you miss, and report back !!!!!
