I've bought an Ivory pillar and tapers, just need ideas on how to jazz them up. I've thought of glueing rhinestones and/or pearls to the candles, putting bows on the candles or candleholders, and putting florals/greens around the base. I'm using clear glass holders. Does anyone else have any ideas? Thank you!

I did the same thing I kinda copied the idea from a candle I found from things remembered..engraving company...in most malls....I use Swarovski Crystals and hot glued them on in a swaggerd patter rounds and pear shaped it looked extremely elegant! If your dress has rinestones or pearls use what is on your dress just to tie it all in together.
I would not use bows on the candle because it could drip on the bow.

You should first make a pattern of the size of your candle by wrapping a piece of paper around it to get it's proper size. Lay out this pattern and create your desired design. When you are happy with the design, wrap it around the candle, and tape in place. Get some pearl headed boutonniere pins at your local craft store. Stick them , evenly spaced, into the candle, replicating your design. Tear off the paper and you have a pearl design left on the candle. You should probably work out the placement of the pins first, and mark them with dots on the pattern.

How can you be making it if you've already bought it? That makes no sense. If you just want to decorate a candle that's already made, tiny little pins -- available at a crafts store -- are great for securing lace, strings of pearls, greens, and such to the outside of the candle. If you were really making it yourself, there are ways to cast things into it that look great -- or to cast spaces for things, if you'd rather do it that way.

To decorate it, draw out what you have in mind first. Don't play with your candle until you have a good idea. You can also go and look at other unity candles if it's ideas you're needing. Most crafts stores have a fine selection of pre-made decorations that you could attach to the candle. Don't trust anything that says self-stick, unless it is specifically designed for use on wax! Get a good glue and use that in addition to the adhesive on a self-stick item.

I think pearls are always nice for unity candles. Decorating around the base of the candles are nice too, in the same flowers of your bouquet maybe? Lace underlay?
Good luck with every thing!!

If your sister is close to an Aunt or a Cousin maybe they could fill in for your mom while doing the Unity candle ceremony! It really all depends on who your sister wants up there!
