Polarized - means the lenses are treated so distortion and glare are minimized. UV rays are deflected.

However, lenses do not have to be polarized to block UVA or UVB rays.

To be sure check the rating (i.e. percentage of rays blocked); do not just rely on the lenses being polarized.
