Is this check from American Express CDMP legit. From US Bank. Check looks o.k. Please help with info!!?

I received a check for $410.10 from american express cdmp. It states its from interest and fees from a consumer credit counsling. I was enrolled in it about 5 years ago. They claim these are fees and interest due to me after completing the program. I remember hearing about a class action against them. Is this a result? Or a scam? I took the check to the bank and they say it seems legit. They suggested I deposit it and not withdraw the money until the check has cleared. Any one else that received the check, I would appreciate your input on this matter. Thanks

I agree with the bank, deposit it and wait for it to clear. More than likely it is good as it is from a company you dealt with in the past who received fees from you.If it was from a company you never dealt with I would be more likely to say it was fake but in this case I say it is probably legit.

I suggest you read front and back of the check, and make sure, by signing the back and cashing, you are NOT agreeing to any additional serivces.

I have seen several checks, mostly from credit companies and phone companies that by cashing the check, I was agreeing to some type of new services where they'll bill me later.

Also, if this is the American Express, you could call the company and ask what this is about.
