plugs and wires are in order. other things to check and posibbly change fuel filter and air filter ,o2 sensor this is a start . do the plugs and wires first because it can affect the o2 sensor which may be keeping the check engine light on i tell people to do the simple and cheapest first. and all this can be done yourself with hand tools and a little time if the light stays on after you have changed the air and fuel filter and the plugs and wires . and driven it 10 to 15 miles then its time to check the sensors codes again . alot of people think that disconnecting the battery will clear the codes and it will but you also lose data at the sametime driving on the other hand will do the samething if the problem was solved by the forementioned tuneup . if not you have not lost data that would be helpful to a service tech. hope this helps

The "Check Engine" light being on tells you something is wrong. One of the emissions sensors has failed and the computer is trying to compensate for the missing data. That's why the car is running badly.

Get the fault codes read then repair the problem...Soon!
With gas over $3 an engine light is costing you BIG time!

Take it to autozone and get the error codes read. They should be able to tell you what parts you need and sell you the parts too. good luck
