It is not too many miles if it is well kept. Have the vehicle inspected before you purchase. I have a 2002 with 90,000 miles and plan a scheduled maintenance with the dealer next week. Keeping any vehicle maintained will last a long time. If the price is right, go for it!

No, 72K miles will be considered mid-miles on most Mercedes-benz.
The problem you might encoutner is, all MB vehicles are made to be maintained, unlike most Japanese or US vehicles that are meant to be maintenance free, except for oil changes.
If you look at the owner's manual, you'll notice, there is such thing as A service and B service where one is just an oil change and few others, but the other is a quite expensive maintenance part change. Just an oil change will cost you about 80 dollars and the other will run you 1000 to 1500 dollars. Be sure to check the service history and verify the previous owner has done these services, and be sure you are up for the cost involved.
MB vehicles last well into 200K miles when maintained, but only when it is maintained.
Take the vin number, and go to the dealership, then ask for MVI or Master Vehicle Inquiry. It will print out all the services done under warranty. Also, have the seller produce the service booklet where he is supposed to have it stamped for every service performed. OR, verify the receipt.
Without them, I won't consider purchase.

I own a mercedes that have over 150k miles. It is a prestigious automobile but make sure you have deep pockets to handle repairs. It can get quite costly. How well do I know. 72k on a Mercedes is considered low miles for that kind of car.

If it has extended warranty maybe. The engine should last a great deal longer with out any trouble. The front suspension usually only lasts about 35,000-50,000 miles before links and bushing need to be replaced. Make sure this has been done recently and you should be good for a bit.

Well check out a carfax report on it and check on line for others that might have the same kind off car. If they have had any problems with it and how many miles their car has. Oh also see if there are any factory recalls on it.
Just Goodle the type off automobile and you will probably find lots off things with people talking about it.
