P.S. when i did it basically i added the numbers up and i got 30/36 but it isnt right the right answer is 5/18.. Can someone please help me out and show me how they got the right answer...
Oh yeah and that probability distribution table:
Sum theretical Probability
2 1/36
3 2/36
4 3/36
5 4/36
6 5/36
7 6/36
8 5/36
9 4/36
10 3/36
11 2/36
12 1/36

5/18 is the probability that the sum is LESS THAN or equal to five. (It's also the probability that the sum is greater than or equal to NINE.)

Is it possible that you misread the problem?

(PS - I assume the problem is the sum of rolling two six-sided dice, but you might want to state that.)

You may not be explaining properly.
p(sum >= 5) = [4 + 5 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1]/36 = 30/36.
You are correct.
However,
p(sum <= 5) = [1 + 2 + 3 + 4]/36 = 10/36 = 5/18 [!].
Did you calculate that table? Are you sure it's correct?

The table that you provided is a probability table for the outcome of the roll of two dice.

If the answer is 10/36 (=5/18), then the question must have asked for the probability that the sum is LESS THAN or equal to 5 (not greater than).

So you did it correctly for "greater than or equal to," and you should be able to see that 10/36 is the correct answer for "less than or equal to."
