First I would say Bill Gates, but there are a huge number of tech leaders now - Meg Whitman of eBay; David Filo and Jerry Yang of Yahoo; Craig Newmark, founder of Craigslist; or the 22-year-old founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, just to name a few.

Japan, (for example) they had cameras on cell phones years before it was even noticed or became popular in the US, you may want to base your research on Japan and technology, so much stuff.
