Use the higher amp setting when you want to charge the battery faster. Either is OK but the 2 amp setting will take three times as long to charge the battery.
If your car sets a lot, you should use the2 amp setting about once a week to ten days to keep the battery at top charge. Do not charge the battery this way unless the setting time is well over a week as overcharging is not good for the battery.

Don`t use a 6 volt charger to charge a 12 volt battery. use the 12 volt 6 amp, would be my choice. If you have time to charge it for 24 to 36 hrs the 2 amp will work fine, and could be better for the battery. for sure don`t get it charged just enough to start the car, and then drive the car to charge the battery. Alternators are made to maintain a battery not charge one, and many people have ruined their alternator charging the battery. Usually cost $65.00 up to repair, and a new one gets in to the hundreds.

If you are having to keep charging the Batt then you need to get your charging system checked if you are charging up a batt that has sat for a while then the anwsers given before are right on the money the 12/6 will charge it faster then the 12/2 but both will do the job

Use the 6A setting. The charger will adjust the current as the battery charges. The 2A setting is for what they call a trickle charge. If the car is to set for a long period of time, then use the 2A setting to maintain a full charge when you are ready to start the car and use it again. good luck.
