Because they are women and that is what they do ... they want their cake and to eat it as well. It's just what a caring man has to understand about what women are all about.
However, the fact that she did this shows either: One, you two lack serious communication or two, she is seriously afraid of you and your temper. She may have just gone out and done it because it needed to be done, but she didn't want the hassle of the big fight and then have nothing get done.
If you love her, understand where she is coming from. Cool down and then flat our ask her, and not in a demanding and hostile way, just ask her what was going on inside or her when she did this. She might be honest, if you don't make her defensive.

Hmm. Sounds like we're to late ya'll! He's already ticked off at her. Maybe you shouldn't be mad, but upset. You pay the bill, make the majority of the household income, you should wear the pants in the family!
If that's what ya wanted to hear, it don't work that way. Settle down and talk to her about this. Oh yeah, and let her know that you would like to be included on any more financial dealings. Ya need to do this in a fine and even tone also. No yellin'.
Here's another tip that's kept Mrs. Bear and me together for over 18years. It don't matter ifin' yer mad at each other when ya go to bed or when ya get up. If you'll do this one lil' thing when ya go to bed and when ya get up, It'll help. Kiss her and say "I love you" no matter what!!!!!
Now here's ya a little story to remember.
A feller was mad at his wife for something wrong in the check book and he was scowlin and makin a fuss. It was awful. She went to the bedroom and got a pair of britches from her closet and took them to him. She said, "Here! Put these on!"
He was already fuming over the checkbook and to have her tell him to change his britches just made him even that much more madder. He yelled back at her, "Those are yer britches! I'll never get into to those, anyways!"
She turned and walked away and said just loud enough for him to hear, "You got that right! Especially with that attitude!"
Now settle down, take a deep breath, and go talk to yer wife.

Women are like that. Of course they get pissed off and fly off the handle if you did something like that to them. Tell her you are the man that pays the bills and makes the decisions around here.

yes you should be mad unless she got the gym contract herself and didn't think you wanted it. however i would definately leave out who brings in the majority of the money when you calm down and talk to her about how this makes you feel and what you would like to see happen in the future.

Ask her not to do something that will affect you without a heads up. That seems fair. Then, go get an individual gym membership if it's that important to you.

They don't all do that. She do a lot of this kind of thing? If so, you may have married a control freak.
