I can't seem to find anyone with that name. I don't want his name to be so unique other people don't have it, but I don't want it to be a popular name either. Does anyone even know of a Catcher?

I know a catcher, his name is Jason Veritek, he plays for the Red Sox.

You don't want a unique name but you're willing to name him cathcer. In about 15 years there's going to be a huge generation of p.o.ed kids.....names are getting ridiculous lately.

In my opinion I wouldn't name my child Catcher, there really isn't anything wrong with it, I guess it just doesn't sound like a kids name to me. If I ever had another little boy I wanted to name him Preston Reilly Scott. (Preston and Reilly not being unheard of names, but not common either). Catcher also reminds me of the baseball position, or maybe your child is going to be a "playa wit da ladies?" Please don't do this to the kid. Go onto a baby name website and find out what the name means.

I don't know anyone named Catcher and can't find it on any baby name sites... so I think it may be very unique.

That said, I really think I like it after having said it a few times and pairing with a couple of different middle names. I think Catcher Liam sounds GREAT! Good luck!

First thing I thought of was being gay and one is the pitcher or the catcher. Then the sports thing....... why cant you catch boy?

Then when he is later dealing with women...... hi, I'm catcher.

Or if he later gets into a more intelectual job (which won't happen since you have predisposed him to sports) he will get "did you catch that?" Or in any case he will always from youth to adult get the same.

There is a reason that you cant find the name. You are hobbling a child at the get go with that name.

When I was choosing a name for my son, I was concerned about him growing up. I didn't want him to be picked on because of his name which wasn't common to me but was his father's and grandfather's name. I thought it was cool, and was reassured by my son's dad that he didn't get picked on growing up for his name.

Perhaps you should think of all the rotten things the other kids will come up with using "Catcher", and decide if it's worth putting your child through that. Growing up is hard enough without having to defend your first name. Sorry....

I can't say that I've ever heard of anyone named Catcher, probably for good reason though. That's an awful name for a child. I think you can get rare and unique with out being strange. Can you imagine a grown man being called Catcher. Please do not do this to this child.

Catcher would be pretty unique, but it's not very nice, either.
