Can't say it's ever been much of an issue over here. You say Mexico to an English person and they say one of two things: Tequila or Cancun.
I have actually been on holiday there, Acapulco Bay of all places. Very, very nice, but hell getting in the sea though! What is it with those waves! I got knocked on my **** and it hurt, imagine being pushed up and down on sand by a force far stronger than you. I just had to wait til it pushed me right up the beach then crawl like a baby. Very embarrassing! Anyway.
We also did an over-night trip to Mexico City (do I remember rightly that it's the biggest city in the world?) Fabulous place, all those clothes shops! That cathederal is just gorgeous.
Also went up the Aztec pyramids, saw the river where Rambo 2 was filmed and went on a shot-over jet. Incredible.
...and the nightclubs. I went in one called Enigma where all the big US stars go. I walked out of a toilet and quite literally into Michael Madsen! I paid the equivalent of £18, got free drinks all night and didn't even have to go to the bar, there was a line of waiters watcing you, and before one drink was empty, you had another on your table! They even had people to give you soap and turn the taps on for you in the toilets !!!
Until I went there, I never knew Tequila came from a cactus, I kid you not (unless they were kidding us).
Well, that's my bit for the holiday brochures. Suffice to say that I love Mexico, the people are unbelievably friendly and I would recommend it to anyone. Is that a good perception?

Well mexico is percieved in the United Kingdom as a party animal's favourite place, but not as stereotypical like in the U.S.A., at least British people know that Mexico is not a lawless piece of s**t desert!, and know that it is a civilized country just like any other.

i thought it was beautiful, i didnt go anywhere near the party places, just had a tour about. i did end up in mexicali tho, and the man at the hotel desk was a bit scary, and there were helicopters about looking for ppl trying to get into the usa. but hey was all part of the experience, and i preferred it to a beach holiday! id deffo go back and go further afield, in particular to the copper canyon rail route

El Topo...Wapo....whatever, Mexicans demonstrate EVERYDAY they don't give a sh** about anyone or their country. The British like your style though, look at Scotland and Ulster.

MEXICO is a US dumping ground. Where they get their cheap labour. And their president is a US stooge. OK?

Corrupt and dusty. Anyone who wants to get on goes north or becomes a drug dealing cop.
