I need some to make a special tea to help my children - their doctor has done all he can, so I want to try this to stop their exhausting coughing. Thank you! I cannot find chestnut leaves anywhere.

I live in Southwestern Minnesota. I don't know if Chestnut Trees grow around here, does anyone else? I have not tried Horehound, or black licorice, but will look into it - thank you!

Have you tried any of the other remedies for coughing?
Horehound is very effective for coughing, so is black licorice.
If a traditional doctor can not fix the coughing try seeing a homeopathic doctor. I know of no place that sells chestnut leaves. Have you tried looking for chestnut trees in your area?
Most of the trees should have leaves now and you would have a fresh supply to work with. Also try herbal stores.

I do not know where to find Chestnut leaves, but I know a natural remedy which helped a 5 year old...it is green clay and it is very good. It is a sort of powder that you put into the tea, mix using a wooden( not metal) spoon and give the child to drink before meals. You can try to buy clay in Naturist Shops. I hope it helps. The American chestnut tree died off in the very early 1900s and has not yet recovered, so you should tak to a herbal medicine professional and find something else that wll work on your children's coughs.
