I was wondering basically how much hospital bills are for the labor and delivery of a baby. I live in Kentucky and me and my fiance aren't making alot a month and I just wanted to know an average cost so we can try and be prepared when the baby comes in 6 more months.

I live in Idaho and had a baby 6 months ago. Here's how just the hopital bill broke down (c-section). Doc visits and bills were separate, as was the anethesiologist.
room and bed semi-private--$1350
pharmacy--$212
Pharmacy take home drugs--$15
oral drugs--$2.35
Medical/surgical supplies--$1618.94
Sterile supplies--$86.60
labratory--$16.00
Hemotoloty--$39.90
Operating room services--$2183.61
Anethesia--$382.89
Drugs/Detail code--$132.45
Recovery room--$342.72
Telemetry--$220.65
Total Charges--$6603.71

And for the baby:
Nursery/Newborn--$882.00
Pharmacy--$34.97
Oral drugs--$14.47
Medical/Surgical supplies--$122.90
Laboratory--$16.00
Audiology--$96.70
Total Charges--$1167.04

The total for all the entire delivery was about $20,000, even after insurance we paid $4000 out of pocket.

Your insurance should cover the cost of your fiance's labor and hospital stay. The best way to find out is to call your insurance company and find out what they cover and where you are covered (like which hospitals accept your insurance). Then once you find out what the difference will be, you can put a little away each month. I live in NYC, and am on medicaid. The entire delivery and 3 day hospital stay were covered. I did not pay a dime.

I live in Arizona and a normal vaginal delivery (no complications) according to the hospital I am delivering at is around $24,000. I am going by what we have to pay with our insurance. We have to pay 10%. You might want to see about getting on your state's health care plan because then it would be possible free.

My daughter is a month old and I've been getting records of the cost of my labor and delivery and after care for both me and the baby. I had a c-section as well. The cost was about $33,000.

It will depend on if everything goes perfect.
The starting price is around 14,000 and
can go upwards of 38,000. You just need
good medical, cause there's no way to be
prepared for those kind of prices.

It is several thousand dollars, are you insured? If you are not, you should contact the hospital you will be delivering at and make arrangements to set up payments...happens all the time.

If you do not have health insurance, please apply for Medicaid. The income limits in most states are much higher for pregnant woman than for those not.
