I've been smoking for like a year now...but if I light up, it's only cause it's like a habit. It's not like I'm sitting here and suddenly say...oh I need one or I'm going to die. It's more like...eh I'm bored...I'll smoke a cigarette. So I smoke like...5 a day but I don't feel like I'm going to die if I don't have one. After a year is it possible that I'm not addicted?

Try not smoking for a week and you'll have your answer.

If you were addicted to cigarettes, you probably wouldn't doubt it, or question it.

There are two different kinds of addiction:
Psychological and Physiological addiction.

Physiological, is the addiction where your body can't and won't function without the given substance.
Psychological, is when it's all in your mind.

Usually, that's where addictions start.
Which, at that point it'd be of your best interest to begin cutting down (that is, if you're interested in quitting), eventually depleting five cigarettes, down to none. So that your body does not get used to the uprising levels of Nicotine, making it impossible for you to quit due to the tolerance your body will gain. Which results in smoking more than just five, and is also worsening your health in the long run.

I've never tried a cigarette before, but I assume that you know you're addicted when you tell yourself, "Hmmm I don't think I'm going to smoke any cigarettes today" and then you end up smoking half a pack.

It's like "40 days and 40 nights", but with cigarettes instead of sex. If you feel identified with the guy, you have your answer, which means that you actually must stop smoking a few days and see if you really feel like you are not going to die.

You probably are... I only smoke that many, but every time I try to quit, I make up some excuse not to. The thing is, nicotine makes your brain respond in a certain way and your brain becomes addicted to that. It will be easier for you to quit because you don't smoke that much and haven't smokes that long. But you are probably addicted, technically.

Quitting smoking is easy, but not killing other people while you are quitting is hard. I have been taking zyban to help stop but I have this obnoxious ringing in my ears now. Stop smoking now if you can.

Then, see if you can quit. I doubt it. And, bye the way, you are classified as a smoker . You should try to quit before permanent damage is done. I hope that you can. Best wishes to you.

Try going without them for a month...
If you feel a craving for them, you're addicted.

Why are you smoking anyways? It is so sick!
