A whole number does not have any fractional parts. It is the natural numbers, their negatives, and 0.

2 is whole. -3 is whole. 5/2 is not.

It is the whole number portion of a decimal number are those digits to the left of the decimal place like $1.85. The 1 is the whole number. If you were going to round it off to the nearest whole number (by dollar) then it would be $2.00. It is also the same with fractions, for ex: 1 3/4. Rounded off to the nearest whole would be 2.

a whole number is any number thats simplest form is not a fraction. Example: 1,2,3,4,.... are whole numbers.

9/3 is also a whole number because in its simplest form, 9/3 = 3.
8/5 however is not a whole number because it is equivalent to 1 and 3/5.

ex= 1,2,3,4,5,6... but NOT 1.2 or 6/5
