That the money we spend daily in iraq is enough to lift 300,000 impoverished families out of poverty?

Republicans attacked Kerry for wanting to raise taxes - even though we have a multi billion dollar defeceit!! Who will bring our country out of debt? Our great great great great great great grand children?

Typical republicans - only care about themselves, and no one else.

We could be supporting thousands of impoverished people, but instead we kill thousands in iraq!!

We could use our money for something useful.

Despite popular republican belief - many people on welfare do have jobs - yet they dtruggle to pay the bills. For example - my sister works long 12 hour days to keep her four children fed and warm (husband left her). She uses welfare, and without it she would be on the streets.

Republicans support cutting the funding for innocent people like her. They claim to have moral values, yet wouldn't care if America's lower class were kicked onto the street.

The US doesn't go around killing Iraqis, and if you lift those people out of poverty, how do you keep them from going back into it. It's not the governments job to babysit, and people should quit having kids they can't afford to take care of.

God Bless America our Troops and Commander in Chief !!!

Unfortunately people feel it is a perfect world, because they are not currently affected by a hardship. So, from their perspective, they have a good job so everyone should. In that way of thinking there would have to be well paying jobs for every single person of working age in the country all the time. No businesses could close down and move overseas, no auto companies could lay off thousands of long term employees, who that was their only trade, everyone can afford a college education and minimum wage is enough for a family to survive on. I believe they call that Utopia. Its a great and magical thought, but purely fantasy. Like another person who posted I find it hard to believe that all of t these people are condemning helping people in their own country, but support sending billions of dollars of their own untraceable tax money to a foreign country under the guise of "helping the impoverished rebuild Iraq". 4 years later they still have limited water and electricity.
In summation, a country's true character and morality is judged, not by how they treat and care for the most fortunate, but for how they treat and care for the least fortunate among us.

Typical liberal thinking. You cant empower the poor by just handing them money. That assumption has been proven false time and time again.

The countries debt is ahead of schedule for being paid back. When you keep taxes low, more revenues flow into the treasury then what they would have if you raised them. Raising taxes kills business reinvestment and terminates many small businesses that are right ont he edge financially.

ACtually republicans are for welfare reform which happened in the 90s which got tough against those people that wanted to just kick back and live off it avoiding work. People like your sister arent a target welfare reform because they do indeed work.

You are trying to stereotype all republicans with a series of misconceptions and false assumptions. The truth is the democrats have had no good ideas for this country. All they can do is preach on raising taxes to grow govt, Bush hatred, and cut and run. Those have been the only things on the democrat menu since 2003.

Welfare is not a cure of being poor. It is supposed to be a short term fix that has been greatly abused. In addition, it was originally set up for widows...and now is being greatly abused by people. (not saying this is your sister, (I won’t stereotype her in that role like you did with republicans) but it happens more then most people are will to admit). Working in a place that accepted food stamps I have seen many people who obviously spend money on frivolous things (Nice fake nails, high-end cell phone, good brand name clothing…ect.) while they were taking government (my money…tax payer money).

Like other comments, what about the money that is spent on illegals.

It's not that republicans don't care about people, its that they believe in that fact that people should help themselves instead of expecting the government to do it for them.

What do you want the rich to give all their money to the poor so that everyone no matter the amount of education, work, or skill to have the same amount of money. Hey why not give everyone the same car so we are all equal…but wait we must make it so everyone has the same everything…oh I guess the government must do that….heck no to this, this is communism!!

Taking the quicker poster's element that there are not extremely any "leaders" interior the Republican party, there are certainly a number of Republicans who've publicly recommended violence against the U. S. government in some kind or yet another. that is honestly treasonous, rather while it comes no longer from any mere citizen, yet from an elected reliable who has sworn an oath to uphold the form. and notwithstanding if that is anecdotal, notwithstanding if an inordinately extreme share of folk on the radical ultimate flock to Yahoo! solutions, lots of the flaws one sees in posts on listed right here are very nerve-racking, and doubtlessly very risky. That such countless individuals have been weened off of extreme theory and fed propaganda for long sufficient that they are receptive to such radical innovations will actual would desire to be addressed in our society as urgently and heavily as plausible.

funny how so many republicans say "F" the poor in America, but the people they voted for are on Cspan right now claiming how giving poor iraqies money to start businesses will curb terrorism.

and even the bigger joke are those who say" I give money to the poor all the time" without the real truth that they give to people that adhere to their religion, or will subject themselves to it for help, while their elected officials wish to give their tax dollars to people who hate them, and oppose their religion.

Isabelle, note the fact that you are an immigrant. of course you would find America generous. Our government loves to give handouts to everyone but the people born here and paid the those taxes.

Why did she have 4 kids if she's that poor? And lower taxes actually yield higher tax revenue, because the money that's not paid in taxes is circulated into businesses, which are taxed higher, but businesspeople have enough $$ afford that, so everyone wins.

I agree with you 100%.

Republicans didn't give out tax cuts. They gave out TAX SHIFTS. All of this deficit spending under Republicans will eventually have to be paid, and paid with interest.
