Could be Miami in the AFC or Minnesota in the NFC this season. Both teams drafted well with offensive players. Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, Ted Ginn Jr, and Lorenzo Booker will all make immediate impact for both teams offensive clubs. I may have to go with Miami, they signed a good sleeper in Rookie QB John Beck and they can get some stability by signing a veteran like Trent Green. They have an already all the other tools on offense with Chris Chambers, Randy McMichael, and Ronnie Brown to make the O work.

In the NFC I think the Vikings. With TJack (Tarvaris Jackson) , we'll have a solid passing game. Adrian Peterson next to Chester Taylor gives us a 1-2 punch like a team called the Saints. The defense is going to be solid I think.
But lets not forget about the Browns in the AFC. Don't forget, last year during the offseason, they did have a very good free agency. They got LaCharles Bentley at center. Now they added Joe Thomas at tackle. They have Jamal Lewis, 3 years removed of his 2,000 yard season. They also have---what a surprise---Brady Quinn. I thought he would suck prior to the draft, but after falling 13 picks farther than he should have, he'll work his butt off to prove to the NFL (NFL as in the Dolphins) that he should've been a Top 10 pick.

Let me start by saying that the Saints is a bit of an overstated turnaround story. While its true that they only won 3 games in 2005 they had been on a 5 season string of 7-10 wins per year before that.
I don't think Bill Walsh could have managed trying to coach a team under the conditions imposed on Jim Haslett by Hurricane KatriNAGAN. The Saints had no practice facility, they had no home field, the entire region was a total mess so I don't think Haslett should have been fired for winning only 3.
10 wins after winning 3 was a nice story and if it lifted the spirits of the city then its wonderful. Just don't forget that the Saints weren't a horrible team before Hurricane KatriNAGAN hit.
As for my pick of a surprise I'm going with two, one of which isn't that big, the other is.
I pick San Francisco to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
The big surprise is that I pick Houston to make the playoffs as a wild card on the backs of their defense.

This time it isn't me being a homer: Detroit Lions From the last draft, the Lions pretty much got the core of their team. If Stafford pans out, that will be the best pick. But it also brought Pettigrew, Delmas, and Levy (who will replace Foote). White and Avril should be good on the outside. Bullocks hasn't been healthy in a long time and should be next year. Add McCoy and Kyle Wilson (a shutdown CB) and this defense will be pretty much set. Let's not forget who the Lions head coach is either, nor what he did with Tennessee. Offensively, all they need pretty much is someone on the right side. The coaches think Backus is the right choice at LT. They agree that our O-line is pretty much set. If you watched them early in the year, you could see that the o-line was making strides. They could run the ball pretty well at times. Smith played hurt 90% of last year. If he comes back healthy this year, watch out. That leaves Stafford. There is no reason he has a year as bad as this one. But, he is pretty much in position to make plays himself now. CJ is running wild on defenses. I think, with a lower pick, they should draft a WR to start opposite of Johnson. The Lions are a lot closer to the playoffs than a lot of people think.

the st. louis rams, they are in an incredibly weak division, the offense got really good at the end of last season. They might have the offense with Bulger Jackson Holt and Bruce and there defense is improving

The tennessee titans. If everyone can remember. 3 years ago the titans where a dominant team with many young stars. They have regained there status as a very young team. I see vince young taking them to at least the first round of the playoffs

I like the Lions. Their offense can be one of the best and the defense is young. Cory Redding, Shaun Rogers, Ernie Simms, and Boss Bailey. I just hope that they don't get burnt in the pass game
